Newton is an industry-leading applicant tracking software (ATS) platform with over 50,000 users.
I was asked to refresh the candidate profile page within Newton, with a goal of creating a far more engaging space. As one of the most utilized areas of the platform, the effective representation of information and functions is integral to the success of this area.
Carrying out in depth interviews with key stakeholders and a selection of Newton’s users made it clear that I would have to be faithful to the existing placement of key elements whilst bringing the whole thing in line with current design standards.
With a focus on the translation of complex user intentions into the design language of the platform, I modernized iconography, strengthened visually weak elements and generally tightened up the whole page. One area that received a significant makeover was the newsfeed; previously a sullen text-based list; I broke the feed up into individual items, assigning relevant icons to each item type to enhance visual recognition.
This update has been very well received by users, with Newton’s Customer Services team reporting a significant rise in user satisfaction especially amongst new users.
